Dubai: Telecommunication operator, etisalat yesterday announced that it would more than double its bandwidth capacity at reduced cost.

Its mobile internet package of 2MB will now offer 10 MB, the 50 MB has been increased to 100 MB and the 120 MB package now allows use of 1GB, while all prices remain constant, the company said in the statement yesterday.

It has also introduced new mobile broadband packages of 1GB, 5GB and 10GB, going up the price of Dh460 per month.

Commenting on the new packages, Eisa Al Haddad, chief marketing officer, Etisalat, said, "This service also reinforces our commitment to provide the best value and a variety of options for our customers to choose from. Mobile broadband is the future of the internet, with the ever increasing need to feel connected all the time."

He said the operator would continue to add new elements and services to its mobile broadband initiative to boost its adoption in the UAE.

Al Haddad also pointed Etisalat's successful completion of phase 1 of its roadmap to bring the next generation mobile broadband connectivity to the Middle East. In trials, in the UAE, the operator has recorded average download speeds of 20.37Mbps, using the HSPA+ technology.

Its customers can enjoy the high-speed internet access across 99 per cent of populated areas in the UAE, through 3.5G HSDPA technology that provides download speed up to 7.2 Mbps.
