During a ceremony held recently in Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates, the Monastir- Habib Bourguiba International Airport was elected best emerging airport in Africa.
The Turkish company "TAV Airports Holding" which operates the Monastir - Habib Bourguiba International Airport was also elected in two categories of airports including the Award for emerging markets, EMAA (Emerging Markets Airport awards), where the best airports in the aviation industry were selected.
It was also awarded "Best Airport Operator" while the Tbilisi airport in Georgia operated by TAV Airports, was chosen as the "Best New Airport" for the region of Russia, the CIS (Community of States independent) and the Baltic region.
The "TAV Airports Holdings" group, the main operator of airports in Turkey,which celebrates in 2010 its 10th anniversary, operates ten airports in Turkey, Georgia, Tunisia and Macedonia.
The holding company also has significant activities in other aspects of airport operations, such as ground services, management services, retail stores, duty free, food services, data processing and security. It also provides services for approximately 375,000 flights of 300 airlines and an average of 42 million passengers.
Held for the first time this year, the EMAA price was organized to take the pulse of the aviation industry in emerging markets. It is an annual event involving all key players in the aviation industry.
