Dubai: Christmas shoppers were left in the dark at the Mall of the Emirates after a powercut yesterday.
A storekeeper in an outlet inside the mall said that businesses were in the dark for around an hour.
"All outlets remained in total darkness and nobody knows exactly what happened as yet. Customers were stuck hanging around outside the stores waiting for the power to be restored," the retailer told 7DAYS.
A statement issued by the Mall of the Emirates said that the source of the power failure was external to the shopping centre and it has not yet identified what caused it.
It said that power went off at 2.40pm and was restored at 3.40pm
