Organisers have vouched that at least 50 per cent of the drivers have come in with new boats for this race. "This shows how serious the drivers are. We are in for some intense action over the next two days," observed Fayrooz.

"To top it all up, the organisation here has been amazing," Fayrooz lauded.

Ibrahim maintained that he favoured an enhanced relationship between the various marine clubs in the UAE.

"Presently, there is a lot of co-ordination and co-operation among the marine clubs. But we need to be better than this as there is a growing appeal for watersports among UAE nationals," Ibrahim observed.

A new sports channel from Sweden will be one of the main attractions at the F2 Championship this year.

In addition to the Swedish channel, Nile Satellite, Qatar TV and Oman TV have stated their intent of live coverage of the championship rounds.

"Some of these channels may start with their coverage from the second round," stated Fayrooz.The Fujairah round of the championship is being sponsored by Al Otaiba Group and Le Meridien Fujairah.
