KUWAIT CITY -  The construction and maintenance of the roads, bridges and rainwater drainage on the Cairo Street, starting from Al-Mansouriya Street in the north and up to Baghdad roundabout in the south, started with the aim of facilitating traffic from Baghdad Street to the First Ring Road, reports Annahar daily.

The sources said that four intersections with traffic signals will be developed to connect the residential areas, while upgrading and improving the existing traffic signals located in the existing intersections along the Cairo Street, as well as a top-up bridge, five bridges at the ground level above the tunnels and the construction of 7 pedestrian bridges at the sites of bus stations, road development with a length of 7 km, about 2.3 km of underground roads with 3 tunnels along Cairo Road, 5 bridges for services and transfer and protection of services including rainwater drainage.

The Ministry of Public Works had signed a contract last December to establish, complete and maintain the Cairo Street worth 105 million dinars, to be completed in late 2021, while the cost of the agreement to supervise the work on the Cairo Street is 4.6 million dinars
