KUWAIT, Oct 20 (KUNA) -- Kuwaiti Scuba-diver Wafa Al-Harbi received Saturday an international award from U.S. NAUI worldwide organization for her efforts in protecting the environment from pollution.

She told KUNA it was the first time the award was given to a scuba-dive instructor from the Arab world, pointing out that the certificate was among the top rated awards given to environmentalists.

"I was among 50,000 international scuba-divers who participated in the award's competition," revealed Al-Harbi, saying she has received a course-director certificate from NAUI.

NAUI assesses environmental efforts by its members worldwide, awarding the best environmental project the award.

It is the first time that NAUI grants the award for an individual in the Middle East. The Kuwaiti Scuba-Diving team won the NAUI award for its environmental work.
