KUWAIT, April 28 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's Minister of Education and Minister of Higher Education Dr. Nouriya Al-Subeeh said Monday the cabinet has approved allocation of 4,751 teaching jobs for expatriates in the coming educational year.

"The jobs are in specializations unattractive for Kuwaiti teachers such as physics, chemistry, English, Arabic and French," she told KUNA following the weekly cabinet meeting.

"The cabinet has also approved allocation of and 440 other jobs for sociologists, psychiatrists, school lab staffers, accountants and lawyers," she disclosed.

Al-Subeeh asserted that her ministry needed to fill those vacancies through overseas contracting with Arab countries in the light of the ministry's aggressive plan for advancement.

"The new schooling year will see the inauguration of 46 new schools to bring down the number of a school class to 25 and relieve the stress of teachers," the minister explained.

"The ministry has sent delegations to Egypt, Syria, Jordan and Lebanon in February to arrange for contracts with selected teachers.

"It is working with the Ministry of Interior to finalize the red tape relating to the visa and residence permits of the new comers.

"It is also booking fight tickets from Kuwait Airways to bring them here," she pointed out.

"His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah asserted keenness on selecting the best overseas teachers to promote the educational development of Kuwait," Al-Subeeh added.
