KUWAIT -- The Kuwaiti Ministry of Health has launched a fresh medical rescue facility at Fahaheel suburb, about 25 miles south of Kuwait City.

It is the third center of its kind in Kuwait. Another two medical rescue facilities were opened at Jleeb Al-Shioukh and Al-Rumaithia, the ministry's medical emergency department head Faisal Al-Ghanim told KUNA.

Four ambulances are standby at the center, which is equipped with sophisticated medical equipment and highly trained medics, the official said.

By launching Fahaheel center, the medical emergency department is seeking to provide better medical recue services in line with updated technical methods, he pointed out.

It is also keen on reducing the fallout of emergency accidents, disasters and diseases through geographical deployment involving highly qualified medics and a sophisticated communication network, he said.

The Ministry of Health plans to set up more medical rescue centers in northern Kuwait in the future.

At least one person is killed and between three and four others wounded in car and motorcycle accidents in Kuwait on a daily basis.
