KUWAIT -- Speaker of the Municipal Council Zaid Al-Azmi on Sunday expressed his thanks to the political leadership and government for responding to the popular, parliamentary and municipal demands concerning delaying the removal of external stairs in the residential housing units.
Al-Azmi said at a news conference that officials from the Commission tasked with removing encroachments on state property would meet with the Municipal Council to develop a mechanism and regulations concerning this issue and to close this file for good in a way to be in the interest of all.
He pointed out that several workshops had been recently held with the Commission to develop a specific mechanism to resolve this issue but there was no comprehensive agreement in this regard, stressing the need to respect the citizens who fell victim to this problem without intent as they had no other option.
Al-Azmi said that some citizens resorted to the exterior stairways outside the boundaries of their property due to inconsistency of entrances, exits and elevations, making the use of external stairs a necessity.
