BEIRUT: Italian Ambassador to Lebanon Giuseppe Morabito awarded Wednesday the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic, rank of Commendatore, to the architect and honorary consul of Italy in Tyre and in southern Lebanon, Ahmad Seklaoui, in the presence of the Lebanese Army Commander Gen. Jean Kahwagi. “As the Honorary Consul of Italy in Tyre and in South Lebanon, Seklaoui has consistently promoted with great success, cultural relations, trade and social links between Italy and southern Lebanon, with incisive actions carried out in coordination with the embassy,” said a press release by the Italian Embassy. “Decisive and valid was also his collaboration during the activities of the Italian contingent within UNIFIL, being always available and providing all the assistance in the fastest times despite the complicated local reality.”
