ERBIL - Iraq's government has agreed to open a Sudanese consulate in the capital city of the Kurdistan Region, Erbil.
Iraqi government spokesperson Ali Dabagh said in a statement that Iraq accepted Sudan's request to open the consulate in the Region on condition that Iraq retains the right to open a consulate in Sudan in the future according to the principle of reciprocity.
The number of consulates in the Kurdistan Region will be 25 when Sudan opens the consulate.
Kuwait's ambassador in Iraq earlier this year announced the opening of a consulate in Erbil in the future.
