Doha - The Institute of Internal Auditors held its fourth Annual General Meeting recently. Chris Adonis, outgoing President, recalled the achievements of the past year, including the seminars held, entering into working relationship with Scientific Accounting Association, and an educational workshop being scheduled. His unfulfilled plans included hosting an Internal Audit conference, exam coaching, special interest groups, CEO-Auditor interactive sessions etc. Chris requested the new president to take the mission forward for the enhancement of the auditing profession in Qatar.
The new board members were elected at the meeting. Sundaresan Rajeswar (Teyseer) is President with Assad Kannan (QNB) as Senior VP, Robert Abboud (E&Y) as VP, Charles Reis (Qasco) as Secretary, Maher Dalal (SCB) as Treasurer, Jeypriya (KPMG) Education, Peter Morgan (CNA-Q) Membership, Don Felix (QF) Member retention, Girish Jain (Rasgas) Seminars and Murali Krishna (Qafac) Web Admin.
The two Qatari members on the Board are Fahad Al Marri (GPRA) Government liaisons and Hassan Al Mulla (QF) Public Relations, who would focus on local members' education needs and interests. The board inducted sub-committee members Lyndon Magsino, Ramesh Desikan, Godfery Ristow, Humayun Kabir, Ganish Sivaji and Aysha Al Hajri.
"The large diverse board indicates the increasing interest of members in the chapter leadership and educational affairs" said President Sundaresan Rajeswar.
It was announced that a highly subsidized two-day course on "Assessing Business Risk For Auditors" will be held on June 8 and 9, and June 10 and 11. The course covers terminology, approaches and evaluation methods applicable to enterprise-wide risk assessment.
It also focuses on micro-level risk assessment within audit assignments and presents several risk frameworks.
