DAMASCUS, (SANA) - Inhabitants and prominent figures from al-Midan neighborhood called for speeding up the rehabilitation of infrastructures damaged by the armed terrorist groups' criminal sabotage acts and providing citizens with their daily living needs.
During a meeting between the residents and directors of services directorates at al-Baath Arab Socialist Party Headquarters in Damascus, the residents stressed the need for continuing repair and maintenance works of electrical network in the neighborhood.
They also called for monitoring prices of food materials and fair distribution of gas, hailing the authorities' efforts to provide supply baskets of the main food materials through the General Organization for Consumer Products and the General Establishment of Storage and Marketing.
They indicated to the economic sanctions as part of the war launched against Syria which targeted the livelihood of the Syrian citizen, adding that this situation requires joint efforts to reduce the impact of these sanctions and punishing those who make use of the crisis.
Secretary of al-Baath Party Branch in Damascus, Mwaffaq al-Basha, said that the meeting aimed at activating communication with people's needs, stressing that the conspiracy against Syria has reached an end thanks to the sacrifices of the Syrian army.
Member of the Executive Office of Services in Damascus, Mohammad Rafiq Shawish, said that 90% of infrastructure rehabilitation works were completed except for electricity in al-Qa'aa area which will be done within the next two days.
Head of Damascus Provision Directorate, Ziyad Hazzae, indicated to providing private bakeries with reserve stock of flour that is enough to operate for three days in case the directorate faced difficulties in transferring necessary bread-making materials.
Member of Damascus Governorate Council Hassan Homsi appreciated the role of the Syrian army in restoring security and stability to the neighborhood so that inhabitants of al-Midan returned to their homes after they were forced to leave them at the hand of the armed terrorist groups.
