Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO) plans to remove obstacles in the way of industrial units to boost production during current Iranian year (started March 20) which has been named as "Year of National Production, Supporting Iranian Capital and Labor" by the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, said head of IMIDRO's presiding board.
Speaking on the sidelines of his visit to Isfahan Steel Mill Company and Mobarkeh Steel Company, Fereydoun Ahmadi explained that the country's progress is tied to the development of steel industry, Mehr News Agency wrote on Friday.
"Based on the Fifth Five-Year Economic Development Plan (2010-15), and Vision 2025, we should seek to launch the development projects as soon as possible to have active presence in global markets, apart from being able to meet domestic need."
He referred to Isfahan Steel Mill Company and Mobarakeh Steel Company as two sources of honor for the Islamic Republic of Iran.
In spite of Western sanctions and acts of sabotage, he added, both companies have achieved to turn restrictions into opportunities and indigenize steel industry in light of using skilled domestic specialists.
Steel Projects
The financial problems of seven steel projects will be removed soon, said minister of industries, mines and commerce.
Mehdi Ghazanfari explained that a portion of the money is to be secured via selling the ministry's assets worth 150 trillion rials ($15 billion) and the rest through foreign finance, inn.ir wrote.
If implementation of the steel projects are supported by the government, he said, the private sector will show willingness to participate in them.
The projects are located in Mianeh (East Azarbaijan province), Qaenat (South Khorasan province), Chahar-Mahal Bakhtiari province, Tabriz (East Azarbaijan province), Shadegan (Khuzestan province), Sabzevar (Razavi Khorasan province), Bafq (Yazd province), and Baft (Kerman province).
According to the World Steel Association (WSA), Iran was the second leading steel producer in the Middle East in 2010 after Turkey.
