Homs, Tartous,(SANA) - Governor of Homs, Talal al-Barazi, discussed with United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Director for the Middle East and North Africa, Amin Awad, means of offering and delivering aid to the displaced citizens due to the terrorism of the armed terrorist groups.
The Governor pointed out to the importance of the role of UNHCR as an effective party in offering support and help to the families displaced due to the attacks of the terrorists.
For his part, Awad said that the meeting with the governor is meant to discuss the required aid and how to deliver it to the people in need, pointing out to the efforts exerted by the governorate in this regard.
Tartous Governor, FAO representative discuss offering aid to displaced people
Governor of Tartous Province, Nizar Ismael Moussa, stressed the governorate's readiness to provide the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) with the required data on the needs and damage in the agricultural sector.
During a meeting with a delegation headed by FAO representative in Syria, the governor asked for supplying the governorate with wheat and vegetable seeds to meet the needs of the governorate as it received some 600,000 displaced people from other provinces.
FAO representative stressed the organization's desire to pay field visits in the province to document the agricultural needs as it intends to offer about 8500 tons of wheat seeds in five provinces.
The representative added that the organization has offered about USD 14 million in emergency aid to Syria.
