DOHA: Qatar Health 2010, the premier healthcare congress and exhibition in Qatar and the Middle East, yesterday announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) and Qatar Airways to support the event in December 2010.
"This is an important educational event that will help raise the standard of healthcare not only in Qatar but also in the region, as we anticipate more doctors, nurses and allied health professionals travelling in from outside of Qatar to attend our healthcare congress," said Dr Abdullatif Al Khal, Director of Medical Education, Head of Internal Medicine and Vice-Chairman of Qatar Health.
"With this agreement we are supported in our endeavour to bring more international experts to Qatar and thereby facilitate the knowledge transfer that is so vital for the successful development of any nation."
Over a hundred international speakers and more than a thousand international delegates are expected to attend this premier healthcare congress.
In recognition of the importance of this event to the development of Qatar's healthcare sector, Qatar Airways has confirmed its support through becoming the Official Carrier for Qatar Health 2010.
As per the agreement, Qatar Airways has made a commitment to offer a special discount on its published fares for all travellers attending the congress. The airline will also provide a dedicated on-site team during the Qatar Health event to assist speakers and delegates with any flight related matters.
"A thriving healthcare sector is an integral part of the quality of life for residents of Qatar, which is why it is essential to support the growing number of research, educational and patient facilities in the country. We at Qatar Airways are pleased to extend our support to the delegates and speakers travelling to Doha to attend the Qatar Health 2010 Congress. Our global network of 92 destinations makes Doha seamlessly within reach throughout the six continents which we serve. As the national airline of Qatar, we are proud to work with our partners in local initiatives that enrich the lives for everyone living in Qatar," said Ehab Amin, Vice President- Commercial, Qatar Airways.
"HMC is the largest national healthcare provider in Qatar, providing treatment and care to more than 80 percent of the population. It is therefore fitting that we partner with another national institution that also provides an important support to our country," said Mohamad Al Noimi, Executive Director of Marketing, Media and PR and Vice-Chairman of Qatar Health.
"It was our intention to make healthcare education accessible to a wider group and Qatar Airways has been extremely supportive in this endeavour."
Qatar Health is one of HMC's and the State of Qatar's most vibrant healthcare projects to date. This premier healthcare congress and exhibition will showcase advances in healthcare research and technology, and provide an international forum for the exchange of expertise between healthcare professionals from around the world.
