KUWAIT: Kuwait Automotive Imports Co WLL (KAICO) -- Al Shaya & Al Sagar-- one of Kuwait's leading automotive company, with renowned brands like Mazda, Peugeot, Mobil, Michelin, Apollo, Eicher, BAW recently signed the contract with Geely Holding Group for Geely automobile distribution in Kuwait.
Yousef Al-Shaya said "This is a historic day for KAICO and we are extremely proud to have joined hands with GEELY, the fastest growing privately owned automotive brand from China - who are known to make quality cars that are the safest, most environment friendly and energy efficient". He Added "Geely are trying to gain International stature and have successfully sold around half million units in the year 2011.We are constructing a new 5000m≤ - 3S facility for Geely in the Automotive hub of Kuwait along the fourth ring road. New models of Geely Cars will be available in Kuwait by early 2012".
Joe Xiong - Geely's Vice GM said, "Geely is very happy to have a professional partner like KAICO. Geely Cars are doing well all over the world". He added "We have acquired Volvo for $1.8b and DSI - the second largest automatic transmission company in Australia.
"We have collaboration with Johnson Controls - US and Dayee - South Korea for spareparts. We have six car assembly and powertrain manufacturing plants all over China. We have 900 dealers, 1000 service outlets and over 19,000 Employees in China. We plan to sell about 2 million units by the year 2015, with a 5.8 percent market share in China. It is an exciting road for Geely moving ahead into the future".
Ashish Tandon - KAICO's General Manager said "We are very pleased to be associated with Geely". He added "We will be launching three models of Geely Cars in Kuwait. They are The Panda, The EC7 and The EC8. Panda is a compact 1.3L car with an attractive look & style, it can serve well as a delivery car for local restaurants. The EC7 is a beautiful mid-sized 1.8L Car, which can serve as a low cost option company car for staff in the service industry. The EC8 is a flagship car available in 2L & 2.4L with a Grander look & feel, suited as a company car for managers. All the above models have been rigorously tested in harsh - peak summer conditions in Kuwait & Saudi Arabia. Geely cars meet the toughest safety standards of the European E-NCap.
