Abu Dhabi, 10th May 2010 (WAM) -- Inauguration of first manufacturing facility panel of Gypsum production in the Industrial City of Abu Dhabi (ICAD) by Saint -Gobain Gyproc is yet another proof of success of plans aimed at attracting foreign investment and expertise, Mohammad Hassan Al Qamzi, CEO of Higher Corporation for Specialized Economic Zones (ZonesCorp), has affirmed.

Commenting on the inauguration of Saint-Gobain Gyprocs first plasterboard manufacturing plant in the Middle East at ZonesCorps ICAD I, Al Qamzi said: "We are pleased to have Saint-Gobain Gyproc among the major investors in our industrial zones. Having this important facility here reflects ZonesCorps keen interest in attracting reputed names in the world of industry.""ZonesCorp strongly believes in partnerships with major global players of industry aiming to contribute to positioning Abu Dhabi as an ideal destination for industrial investments, a significant location for specialized industry and a key driver of economic diversification," he added.

The state-of-the-art facility will be the first of its kind for the French company and local partner Sultan International Holdings, in the Gulf region and represents an investment of over US$60 million. Built on a 70-hectare site, in the rapidly expanding industrial area (ICAD-1) in Abu Dhabi, that will enable the company to produce around 30 million square metres of plasterboard each year servicing the ever growing demand for lightweight building systems for the construction sector in the region.

Marketing Manager for Saint-Gobain Gyproc, Peter Robinson said, we have been able to use the experiences from within the Saint-Gobain group world wide to ensure that our plasterboard is produced to the internationally recognised manufacturing standards such as the European, British and American standards.
