Founder and Managing Partner of RAI Company appointed Honorary President of Accountants & Auditors Association

ABU DHABI- Riyad Abdul Rahman Al Mubarak, Founder and Managing Partner of RAI Company, has received the Honorary Presidency of the Accountants and Auditors Association in the UAE, in recognition of his efforts and achievements in developing the accounting and auditing profession locally, regionally and globally.

Al Mubarak led the effort to implement International Public Sector Accounting Standards, IPSAS, and International Financial Reporting Standards, IFRS, in Abu Dhabi. He has been known for developing a distinctive legislative and operational model for "government audit" which have contributed to many achievements locally and internationally including the membership of the International Forum for Independent Audit Regulators, IFIAR.

Al Mubarak's achievements and contributions have been recognised by the leaders of the accounting and auditing profession locally and internationally. In 2014, Al Mubarak was selected as a member of the Supreme Advisory Council by International Federation of Accountants, IFAC. On this occasion, Al Mubarak said, "The accounting and auditing profession is a cornerstone of any country’s economy and has a pivotal role in developing the business environment and enhancing investor confidence by ensuring the quality and integrity of financial reports. The accounting and auditing profession has a prominent place in society because of its role in protecting the public interest, maintaining high standards and a key role in helping institutions to act ethically, raise standards of transparency and fight corruption."

He added, "The Accountants & Auditors Association has an important and pivotal role in the development of the accounting & auditing profession in the Country and building national capabilities. Therefore, we look forward in the coming period to strengthen the work of the Association with the profession regulators and the practitioners of accounting and auditing as well as international organizations concerned with the profession to keep up with the economic development of the Country in particular and the region in general." Riyad Al Mubarak is a Certified Public Accountant of the USA and earned the professional designation of "Qualification in Internal Audit Leadership - QIAL" from the Institute of Internal Auditors.

He has a Master Degree in Financial Economics from Boston University and a Bachelor Degree in Accounting with honors. The Accountants and Auditors Association in the United Arab Emirates is a non-profit organisation established in 1997 to develop the accounting and auditing profession in the UAE.
