Media and I, a publishing company in Dubai, has launched the first phase of a premiere portal for higher education solutions, www.uniandi.com.
The project in its first phase includes 675 out of the 1055 universities in the Middle East and North Africa, across 21 countries.
The portal has been officially launched in Going Global 2013, the international higher education exhibition held recently in Dubai. The event, organized by the Cultural British Council, and under the patronage of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research in the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, along with the British Minister of Public Universities David Willetts, was attended by more than 850 education leaders in the world.
Uniandi.com is a new portal which is the first of its kind in the region, a one stop to meet the needs of higher education students, researchers and academics. In addition to the huge database containing the universities' programs, fees and registration requirements, important information regarding academic services such as educational loans, exchange programs and academic awards is also offered.
The project consists of five phases and will be global by the end of 2014 with more than 18,000 universities' profiles and distinguished services in various fields of higher education and scientific research including recruitment, sabbaticals, university ratings based on students' reviews, and university rankings in accordance with standards and specific criteria designed by experts, analysts and professors to meet the needs of the Arab region by providing an independent credible ranking system for universities.
In the final stage, the portal will become a social network for higher education which will provide universities with access allowing them to update their profiles online, in addition to a live chat service allowing 24 hour communication with the portal administrators.
