Cairo – The Engineering for the Petroleum and Process Industries Company (Enppi) and the Petroleum Projects & Technical Consultations Co. (Petrojet) announced the completion of SUMED Ain Sokhna Product Hub to meet the rising demand for petroleum products.
The project comprises offshore platform facilities running for three kilometres to receive tankers with 160,000 deadweight tonnes (DWT) and reaching 10-metre deep hulls, according to a statement on Wednesday.
The platform has 76 steel structure modules weighing 4,200 tonnes.
The project also includes nine tanks for storing petroleum products with a capacity of 300,000 cubic metres, of which 135,000 cubic metres are allocated to the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation and 165,000 are assigned to Saudi Aramco for storage and re-exportation.
This is the first project in Egypt which uses jacking technology in storage tanks lifting.
