Dubai: Emirates airline and Etihad Airways have announced the resumption of their flights to Hong Kong after Typhoon Mangkhut hit the city, the two airlines said on Monday.

Hong Kong’s flag carrier, Cathay Pacific Airways, has stated that the scheduled flight operations began to return back to normal.

Earlier in September, both of the Emirati carriers cancelled their flights to the Asian city due to safety risks posed by Mangkhut.

Considered the strongest storm of 2018, Typhoon Mangkhut is hitting Guangdong, China's most populous province, causing immense damages.
