The Indian community living in Jalan got the chance of attending an open house organised by the Indian Embassy recently.

H E Anil Wadhwa, India's ambassador to the sultanate, addressed a sizeable gathering of Indian nationals. H E Wadhwa expressed his optimism that the current situation in Oman will return to complete normalcy shortly. Shahjahan MAK, honorary consular agent and Roy Michel, president of the School Management Committee of Indian School Jalan (ISJ) also attended the open house organised at the ISJ premises.

Speaking to Muscat Daily, Shahjahan said that many labour-related issues were raised at the open house. "It was the first time that such an open house was organised by the embassy in Jalan and people benefited from it by directly airing their problems in front of the ambassador," he said.

Shahjahan said that after the open house the embassy decided to provide quarterly consular services in Jalan as well as Ibra. "Till now quarterly consular services were provided in Sur, but now residents of Jalan and Ibra will also get a chance to get their consular work done within the city limits once every quarter."

Later in the evening, H E Wadhwa attended the annual day of ISJ. The students of the school presented a colourful cultural show after the prize distribution ceremony.
