Cairo – Egypt's exports of engineering industries have recorded around $2.5 billion annually, Middle East News Agency (MENA) reported.

The Chairman of the Engineering Export Council of Egypt (EEC), Sherif Al-Sayad, announced that Egypt has exported engineering industries to the African market at a total value of around $500 million.

Al-Sayad referred that 10 engineering companies, most of which are multinational, have accounted for around 85% of the exports, while 260 companies of the EEC have represented about 15% of the exports.

The EEC plans to cooperate with the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the General Authority for Investment to attract new investments to the Egyptian market and increase Egyptian exports.

The chairman of the EEC further remarked that Egypt seeks to increase the trade exchange with the African countries, namely that the country has engineering and food products that are required in Africa.
