Cairo –  Ain Sokhna Port on Egypt’s Red Sea coast is currently witnessing the largest expansion project, the second basin project, with investments of EGP 10 billion ($560 million), head of Suez Canal Authority (SCA) and Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone), Mohab Mamish, said.

The expansion project includes a new container facility covering 350,000 square metres, according to a statement.

This move is expected to raise the handling capacity of the port to more than 1 million containers per year in the coming period, Mamish added.

It is noteworthy that DP World Sokhna has received two Liebherr LHM550 mobile harbor cranes worth EGP 140 million ($8.4 million).
