Cairo – Egypt achieved self-sufficiency in several agricultural crops, the Ministry of Agriculture said in a statement on Wednesday.

The country became self-sufficient in vegetables and fruits with 20.5 million tonnes and 10.7 million tonnes, respectively.

Additionally, the most populous Arab nation also achieved self-sufficiency in rice with 6.5 million tonnes. onion with 4 million tonnes, and eggs with 13 billion eggs.

The country became 96% self-sufficient in poultry, 90% in fish, and 58% in meat.
