Dubai, 1st Oct. 2011 (WAM): Dubai SME, the agency of the Department of Economic Development (DED), Government of Dubai, entrusted with the development of the small and medium enterprise (SME) sector, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Global Village (GV) to promote SMEs in the UAE.
The MoU will enable members of Dubai SME to be part of the Global Village and showcase their products and services in the international leisure, tourism and retail fair. Dubai SME members will be entitled to dedicated kiosks and special benefits in Global Village under the agreement, signed between Abdul Basit Al Janahi, Chief Executive Officer of Dubai SME, and Saeed Ali Bin Redha, Chief Executive Officer of Global Village."SMEs deserve the best possible exposure given their significance in the emerging global economic landscape and particularly, their contribution to social and economic development in the UAE. Global Village is a promising and cost-effective venue for small and medium businesses to market their capabilities to a large community of consumers over a long period," Al Janahi said.
"Dubai SME is focusing on creating more and more opportunities for SMEs to set up, expand and play a major role in achieving sustainable growth in the UAE. We continue to look for new avenues to promote entrepreneurship and the business environment in Dubai, true to the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai," added Al Janahi. Saeed Ali Bin Redha commented: "Based on the great success of the global village over sixteen years, this round we will offer our long experience to Dubai SME members to enable them to promote their products and services through the global village activities, as well as to communicate and interact to obtain practical experience through direct contact with participants and visitors. We will provide them special facilities to market their products efficiently". Under the agreement, Global Village will provide an ideal platform for Dubai SME members to promote their products and services through its range of activities, which includes various countries from the world under one roof. Global village will provide an integrated package of services that include consulting and periodic follow-up of the projects involved. The Global Village as named by media and the public, an ideal tourism destination for global activities due to it diversifications and globalization and creativity, and it is the right place for the family to entertain within various cultures and food flavors and shopping and special promotions. The Global Village will kick off activities celebrating the sixteenth round in November 1st 2011 till 3rd of March 2012. Like every year this ideal destination suites all tastes within a wide range of cultures and entertaining activities. Dubai SME will assist members with identifying opportunities to participate in the Global Village and refer eligible SMEs to the Global Village management.
