Dubai, Sept.11th,2007 (WAM) -- Dubai eGovernment has announced theintroduction of a new module to its eLearn initiative.
Named eManager, the new certification aims to train managers andsupervisory level employees of all government departments in Dubai tofacilitate transfer of knowledge and skills within the departments. Themove complements the directives of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid AlMaktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai,to provide government department employees a work environment that encouragescontinuous learning. Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) is the first government departmentto adopt the new service, with 50 employees registering for the firstbatch of the course. Each employee will learn 12 different skills throughthree certification levels -Associate eManager, Qualified eManager andProfessional eManager. The certification facilitates learning in a virtual business environment,where the students can think, interact, make decisions and practice softskills in real-life situations. The main subjects that will be coveredin the eManager program include managerial leadership, employee performance,time management, budgeting, leadership development, project managementessentials and strategic management. 'The key to an individual's well-balanced career progression lies in theirwillingness to learn and gather knowledge continuously, and this formedthe basis for the introduction of eManager as an extension of our eLearninitiative,' said Salem Al Shair, eServices Director, Dubai eGovernment. He added: 'The eManager certification also aligns with the directivesof H.H Sheikh Mohammed, and we believe that this programme could significantlycontribute to greater productivity and efficiency of government departmentsin Dubai.' 'The eManager certification is designed to be a learner-friendly programthat incorporates a virtual business setting, which means that even ifthe course-takers make mistakes in strategy or execution, they have achance to learn from them without facing business consequences,' highlightedAl Shair.
