Dubai, 5th July 2009 (WAM) - In cooperation with Dubai Customs, Dubai Customs World (DCW) is giving comprehensive training courses to a number of Libya Customs employees as part of an agreement signed last April between DCW and the National Council for Economic Development-General People's Committee of Libya in the Libyan capital; Tripoli.

Signing such an agreement between DCW and the National Council of Economic Development in Libya was initiated regarding the great reputation DC enjoys internationally and the trustworthy performance, practices and capabilities which clients and external partners testify to. In addition to that, Dubai Customs has a great expertise that will pave the way to progress of all customs sectors as well as training of cadres.

The Director of HR Division at DC, Mr. Khalifa Abu Jamhoor, said: "The agreement constitutes of implementing 9 training courses over nine months for a number of participants from Libya Customs. These courses are of two categories; the first is theoretical and will be held in Tripoli and the second is practical and includes field trips where Libyan participants will be trained through different customs centers," he added.

Training and Assessment center at Dubai Customs is conducting two theoretical training courses for 90 Libyan participants. Risk Management, its definition, advantages, needs, requirements, implementation and methodologies will be the first theoretical course. The second will introduce the Harmonized System, its structures, principles of customs classification, customs labs as well as means of counterfeiting.

"These courses will be carried out throughout June and will include two groups of Libyan participants. They will be trained on Human Resources Management and Customs Practices at the Free Zones and will be accompanied on tours to different work locations," he added.

The HRM course will cover topics on employees' affairs, employment, planning, training, reward schemes, performance assessment and the HR E-System. As for the second course, it will include training on customs procedures, clearances, inspections, financial monitoring, stores monitoring and Customs Clearance E-System.

Officer Osama Al Zawi, Head of Training in the Planning and Training Department at Libya Customs, said:" The National Council of Economic Development has chosen to receive training by Dubai Customs for its worldwide reputation and advanced practices. Dubai Customs plays a great role in training our cadres and develop human resources on a regional and international level." Mr. Al Zawi has expressed his appreciation to Dubai Customs and Dubai Customs World for receiving the Libyan participants well and for providing them with a lot of facilitations and services as well as responding to their notes and questions. Mr. Al Zawi has also mentioned he hopes for more cooperation to take place in the near future between both sides on different training topics.
