DOHA: Dorma, the world's market leader in door controls, movable walls and glass fittings and accessories, has opened its doors in Qatar.
The more than 100-year old German company's Middle East operations are looking to increase its turn over by 15 percent on annual basis. Currently, Dorma enjoys 45 percent of the market share in the Middle East, Sami Al Naji (pictured), Country Manager, Qatar told The Peninsula in a recent interview.
Dorma, which is also a successful player in the security, access control segment , emergency exit control and escape route security system, is currently involved in key ongoing projects in Qatar, including the New Doha International Airport (NDIA).
Dorma would be putting in place a total of nearly 100 automatic doors, including 68 external ones. During emergency, the NDIA slider doors could be transformed in to sling doors too. The NDIA doors would be child-friendly with green solutions designed to save energy, he said.
'International airports are keen to maintain maximum security at all times. In order to protect emergency escape routes, many modern airports rely on Dorma Panic Hardware system. Our automatically relocking emergency escape locks provide for door security without the need for monitoring function-because as soon as the door closes, the bolt re-engages," Sami said.
One of the typical benefits encountered in airports is the wideness of their passageways, ensuring the smooth handling of traffic flows and offering passengers easy access when loaded down with baggage. Here, our automatic telescopic sliding door operators make sure that those widths are maximised.
Dorma, which provided its solutions to Qatar's prestigious Qatar National Convention Centre is also currently involved in BarwaCity, a large number of hotels and sports clubs. The 3.5km long Barwa Commercial Avenue is another key project Dorma is involved in. Made out of recycled products and eco-friendly glue, Dorma's movable walls are 100 percent environmental-friendly.
"Our clients can fully rely on our technologically innovative and extensively integrated solutions. We also provide advisory, support, inspection and maintenance services of the highest caliber with all the advantages of single source supply and tailoring to specific project requirements. Dorma has three partners in Qatar. We hope our presence in Qatar will help add more value and support to our clients in the country," Sami said.
