Abu Dhabi-based Dolphin Energy, suppliers of natural gas, have been awarded the 2005 Excellence in Energy award and Abdullah S. Jum'ah, president and CEO of Saudi Aramco, was named Industry Innovator in an oil and gas industry poll.
The award to Jum'ah brought double honours for Saudi Aramco, which was also named Best Company in Environment. Last year the company also took the overall Excellence In Energy Award.
Last year Dolphin Energy also took home the Best in Environment honour.
The annual Excellence in Energy awards are voted for by the oil and gas industry via Pipeline magazine and this year they pulled a record poll with heavy voting from Qatar and the US.
"This award recognises Dolphin Energy's achievement in creating the largest single energy initiative undertaken in the Middle East," said Eileen Michael, Publisher, and Reflex Publishing Middle East, which organises the awards under its Pipeline magazine title.
The awards were held under the patronage of Abdullah Bin Hamad Al Attiyah, Qatar's Minister of Energy and Industry.
Other award winners were Landmark Graphics for Best Company in Information Technology Implementation, Potomac for Best Company in Industry Services. Qatar National Bank for Best in Project Finance.
