Cisco Systems is anticipating 'huge demand' for its teleconferencing products across a series of sectors in the sultanate.

Speaking to Muscat Daily at the Cisco Gold Certification award ceremony for OHI subsidiary International Information Technology Company (IITC), Cisco's Oman country manager Iyad al Chammat said the potential is 'promising' and the company sees demand in healthcare, education, banking, government and oil and gas sectors.

He said, "We believe everything is moving towards collaboration, which means integrating voice, video and data across all the sectors.

"Nowadays people don't have to leave the country for consultations or meetings. It will help people save time and money."

He added that a key area for growth will be extra demand from existing customers and the technology will eventually replace standard voice calls.

"One of the oil and gas customers started with a few units for their safety and knowledge transfer and troubleshooting but we see huge demand," Chammat said.

IITC's Cisco gold certification process started when the companies began working together ten years ago.
