MUSCAT -- The Seventh Annual GCC Workshop on 'Training Needs Assessment' (TNA) was held recently at the College of Banking and Financial Studies (CBFS). Dr Ashraf Nabhan al Nabhani, Dean at CBFS said, "The objective of the workshop was to create a forum for the GCC banking institutes to discuss issues related to TNA and how to improve its efficiency and effectiveness."

The workshop was facilitated by Dr Ridha M Al Khayat, Director, Kuwait Institute of Banking Studies (KIBS), who has a rich experience of over three decades in the field. Apart from the GCC banking institutes, its delegates will also be drawn from banks and other players in the financial and corporate sectors. The workshop comprised of conceptual inputs and also real life case studies on TNA. BankDhofar and Oman International Bank, leading commercial banks in the Sultanate, are major sponsors of the workshop.

According to Dr Ashraf, "Such workshops play a critical role in familiarising participants with various TNA models and devising an action plan to improve the existing TNA practices in their organisations. A proper TNA will help to identify performance requirements or needs within an organisation in order to direct resources to the areas of greatest need, those that closely relate to fulfilling the organisational goals and objectives, improving productivity and providing quality goods and services."
