Damascus, (SANA) - The Cabinet commemorated on Tuesday the anniversary of October Liberation War, hailing its achievements made through the war which restored pride and dignity to the Arab Nation at large.
During the cabinet's weekly session, Prime Minister, Wael al-Halqi, stressed that October Liberation War restored pride to the Syrian soldier in particular and the Arab soldier in general, and it destroyed the myth of "the invincible Zionist army."
He added that the main cause of the Arabs' victory in this war was Arab solidarity at that stage; therefore, the West and Israel have set plans to destabilize the Arab countries and weaken the Arab World.
The Prime Minister congratulated the Syrian Arab Army on this occasion, stressing that the army will remain "the maker of glories and victories and will defend the Arab Nation," lauding the daily victories achieved by the army in confronting the universal war targeting Syria.
Premiere al-Halqi asserted that the government will continue combating corruption in all government sectors.
For his part, Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Walid al-Moallem, presented a comprehensive political review, pointing out to Syria's active participation in the meetings of the UN General Assembly.
He said that world countries are determined to understand the nature of events in Syria as they expressed their belief that the political solution is the only exit from the crisis.
Minister of State for National Reconciliation, Ali Haidar, briefed the cabinet on the activities of the ministry in terms of consolidating the spirit of national reconciliation, pointing out to "positive activism" by civil organizations and figures to boost national dialogue and promote tolerance.
The Cabinet approved a draft decree amending customs duties stipulated in Decree No. 265 for 2011.
Prime Minister Wael al-Halqi stressed that the government will continue its policy of subsidizing basic materials for citizens, denying rumors that say otherwise.
