Staff Report

Dubai: Britam Vets have gone back to the summit of the Dubai Expat Football League's Division One after a deserved but hard-fought victory over arch-rivals Hi Force Dogs.

In a match that lived up to its top billing, Britam Vets controlled most of the first half and were 2-0 up after half an hour. Essam reacted first to a fumble by the Dogs' 'keeper and squeezed in before Tometski thundered in a volley.

Guy Last scored a fine individual goal just before the break to make it 2-1. After the breather, the Dogs equalised through a Masterman free-kick. A Rasmus Lund volley came crashing back off the post before Man-of-the-Match Corin Dougall turned his marker and crashed in a worthy winner from an acute angle.

Dubai Irish stayed in contention with a 4-0 win over bottom-placed Televes. Televes put in their best display of the season before Irish's Karim and Malone scored two apiece to seal the win.

DHL had it easy with a 3-0 win at Sharjah, while Jacobs Creek continued their improvement with a 6-2 hammering of Players FC.

In Division Two, table-toppers HSBC completed a bad week for the Hi Force club as they saw off the Dogs' stablemates, the Mongrels, 3-1. HSBC claimed three points with strikes from Luke Philips and Stuart Isted.

Rustar ended second-placed Grafton Blacks' unbeaten run with a 4-1 win at the Etisalat Academy. Rustar's Yuri ran the show for the Russians.

HCT climbed off the foot of the table with a 7-2 demolition of AXA Time Out. Jet-heeled winger Waleed Shambi scored five for the scholars to record their best win for a long time.
