Al Ain Zoo and Aquarium Public Institution has canceled the Al Ain Zoo and back of house masterplan tender, an official from the institution told Zawya.
"The tender issued for the masterplan of the zoo and back of house has been canceled since participating consultants were not technically acceptable," said the official.
The bid had invited companies specializing in architecture, landscaping, park designs and environment with experience in zoo masterplanning and animal facilities.
No information was given on when the new tender will be issued.
The tender for Al Ain Zoo masterplan was issued on 29 January, 2014 with the final submission date postponed twice.
It was extended from 18 February to 25 February and then eventually to 10 March, 2014.
A site visit, however, had taken place in February, 2014.
The Al Ain Zoo envisages transforming the existing zoo into a new learning destination and a tourist attraction dedicated to conserving wildlife through the new project, which will be known as the Al Ain Wildlife Park & Resort.
