Blue, the British hit-making boy band that scored success with One Love, will meet garage-girl band Mis-Teeq in Dubai in an open-air gig on September 30.

A bonus performance by singer and songwriter Derek McDonald at the Dubai Media City Amphitheatre (expanded to accommodate 10,000 people) will set an upbeat mood for the forthcoming concert season.

Mirage Promotions UAE, the event's organisers (who also brought Deep Purple and Ronan Keating to Dubai) hint at more surprises that will be announced soon.

A special appearance by Dania is also possible.

Blue is the band behind the hits All Rise, and the currently popular Bubblin.

"An overwhelming number of fans included Blue on their wish list of the five most-wanted concerts in a recent survey we carried out," Thomas Ovesen, general manager of Mirage Promotions, said in a press briefing.

"We are thrilled to respond to their request and we are also constantly looking into innovative features to enhance this unique event."

The concert, sponsored by Motorola, the British Council and several other companies, will also bring Mis-Teeq members Alesha, Sabrina and Su-Elise to Dubai

McDonald (with pop duo Mero), who has just completed his Asian tour, won the prestigious UK Smash Hits Award for best new act.

Regular standing tickets are priced at Dh155 (Dh10 discount for Spinneys customers) while the Motopit slots are priced at Dh195.

Tickets are available at Virgin, Hallmark, Giordano, Hard Rock Caf, Planet Hollywood and www.boxofficeme.com.
