TUNIS - Interim Prime Minister Mehdi Jomaa, on Friday evening, accompanied United Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon for a walk in Habib Bourguiba Avenue in Tunis.
According to a statement from the Prime Ministry, Ban Ki-moon walked in Habib Bourguiba from the January 14 Square through the Municipal Theatre and the Tunis Cathedral.
The Prime Minister and his guest stopped in front of the statue of Ibn Khaldun.
Jomaa gave Ban Ki-moon a glimpse of these historical and religious heritages which, according to him, reflect an honourable image of Tunisia and its contribution to intermingling civilisations.
Mehdi Jomaa and Ban Ki-moon then visited the souks in the Medina where the UN Chief enjoyed a sample of local handicrafts.
Several citizens warmly welcomed the UN Secretary-General who later visited the Zitouna Mosque and learnt about this high spiritual place and beacon of learning.
