The implementation of new systems at the Mina Salman Port will dramatically improve port productivity with efficient and faster movement of cargo, the top management at the recently privatised port office told Aluminium Bahrain management yesterday. The initiative will result in faster and more efficient delivery of Alba's metal to its regional and international customers. Currently, the company exports about two-fifth of its total production.

A high-ranking delegation of Mina Salman Port officials visited the Alba smelter, briefing members of the executive management team about the smooth export of the company following which the smelter hit record production capacity. APM Terminals, Bahrain, took charge of operations at the port along with the upcoming Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Port.

Members of the delegation included director of general, organisation of ports, Ebrahim Hassan Salman, director of cargo operations Rushdi Mohammed Al Muhanna, acting director of marine affairs Ahmed bu Hussain, harbourmaster Hisham Rahman, APM Terminals, Bahrain, managing director Jorgen H. Madsen and its sales and marketing general manager Iain Rawlinson. They were received by Alba marketing general manager Musaad Abdulla Al Eid and company engineering and maintenance general manager Hussain Al Ali. Present were company marketing operations manager Yogesh Kumar, public relations manager Dr Khalid Bomtaia and acting shipping head Mohammed Al Haddad.
