The Bahrain Monetary Agency (BMA) has issued a half-dinar uncut banknote. The 28-in-1 banknote features 28 Bahraini banknotes, of 500-fils denomination.
Each uncut sheet of crisp, mint condition banknotes, which are real and usable, is 57cmx50cm. The retail price of each sheet is BD20. The uncut banknote is a collector's item and a gift suitable for many occasions. "The notes are legal tender," the Director, Currency Issue, Farid Jassim Zubari, said.
The BMA has minted 300 sheets, which may be purchased from the Directorate of Currency Issue. The 500-fils note, which is mainly brown, was first issued by the BMA in 1993. The note circulates alongside the half-dinar coin, which was introduced in January, 2000. The 500-fils banknote is the second uncut banknote to be issued by the BMA. An uncut banknote of BD1 denomination was issued in January, 2005. "The first issue in January 2005 was successful," Zubari said.
