The new chairman of the Bahrain Society for Training and Development (BSTD) is expected to be named today when the newly elected 11-member board sits to name the year’s office-bearers.

Eleven members for the 2004 BSTD board have been chosen at the conduct of the BSTD’s annual general meeting and general elections last Thursday night at the Gulf Hotel. But the naming of the society heads have been called off due to the absence of one of the elected board members.

The 11 members elected to the board are: Mariam Janahi, Saeed Rajab Omar, Hussain Ismail, Ahmed Tahery, Adel Murad, Wedad Al Moosawi, Fadhel Badow, Farida Bubshait, Adel Rahimi, Hassan Mohammed Hassan and Nezar Al Basri.

Thirteen candidates contested the board membership.

Outgoing BSTD chairman is Ahmed Al Banna who at the AGM reported the previous year’s accomplishments of the BSTD.

The BSTD has over 500 members in Bahrain. It conducts local and international programmes and forums on training and human resources development. Some of its members have been elected to membership in prestigious international human resources and training bodies.
