MANAMA: Bank ABC has announced the appointment of Sedjwick Joseph as the new group chief credit and risk officer.

He will be responsible for group credit and risk functions and will work closely with both the business and support functions to aid the group strategy as well as further enhance the credit and risk management framework and capabilities.

Mr Joseph was the chief risk officer for Bank ABC in Europe since December 2015 and with this promotion he will be joining the group headquarters in Bahrain.

With this new role, he also joins the bank’s management committee and will be reporting to the group chief executive Dr Khaled Kawan and to the board risk committee.

Commenting, Dr Khaled Kawan, said: “This appointment takes advantage of the distinct opportunities that exist within Bank ABC globally, in a shining example of our commitment as a group to grow talent from within the organisation.”

He added, “I have had the opportunity to work with Sedjwick in recent years and have seen first-hand his deep commitment to maintaining and promoting the risk culture of our group.”

Mr Joseph has over 25 years of banking experience across credit, risk management, portfolio management and analytics.

Prior to joining Bank ABC, he worked with a number of leading banks holding both country and regional roles across multiple geographies, including Europe, Middle East, Asia, the US and Africa.

Mr Joseph has a master’s degree in business and a bachelor’s degree in engineering.
