Bahrain Air has opened a new hub in the Saudi city of Dammam, it has announced.

The airline, which flies to Jeddah and Riyadh, will operate direct flights to Beirut in Lebanon and Khartoum in Sudan from 13 June from Dammam's King Fahad International Airport.

"The Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia has been a very important market for us, ever since we started operation," the carrier's chief executive Richard Nuttall said.

"But we can now truly call it our second home as we open up our second hub in Dammam."

Bahrain Air will operate four flights a week to Beirut on Saturdays, Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays departing from Dammam at 11.20am and reaching Beirut International Airport at 2.05pm.

The airline will also operate three flights a week to Khartoum International Airport on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Sundays. On Tuesdays and Sundays, flights will depart at 9.45am and reach Khartoum at 1.15pm. On Wednesdays the flight will depart at 11.55pm, reaching Khartoum at 3.30am the following day.
