BEIRUT (Zawya Dow Jones)--Bahrain expects oil revenue to grow to 2.3 billion Bahraini dinars ($6.1 billion) this year and to represent more than 86% of its public budget due to rising global oil prices and thanks to the increase in oil production at the Bahrain Field, Manama-based Al Wasat reports Tuesday.
The Gulf state's oil revenue reached BHD1.8 billion in 2010, or 85% of the public budget, the paper reports citing data by the Bahraini finance ministry. The country's oil revenue represented 72% of its budget in 2004, it adds.
The budget deficit is expected to narrow to more than BHD400 million in 2011, from BHD773 million last year, the daily reports.
