Former Iraqi foreign minister , Tariq Aziz's lawyer said that the office of Prime Minister , Nuri al-Maliki informed him of supporting the recent release of the senior officials of Saddam Hussein's regime.
There were reports quoting Iraqi officials on the existence of serious attempts to release , Tariq Aziz and former Defense Minister , Sultan Hashim.
Badie Aref Izzat, lawyer of Tariq Aziz told "Shafaq News", that there are Iraqi political and external parties that strongly rejects the idea of the releasing his client and Sultan Hashim.
"While parties from the Gulf , Europe and American officials push towards their release and support all attempts in this regard."
Izzat revealed that one of the officials of al-Maliki's office told him yesterday that the latter strongly supports the release of Aziz and Hashim.
He said that Article 27 of the Criminal Court Act 2005 provides the possibility of failure of any party to dismiss or ease sanctions issued by this court. In this case, the application of the decision needs Parliamentary decision to cancel voting on private amnesty again.
