Chairman of State Expediency Council Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani praised the scientists of Amirkabir University of Technology for developing the Alborz Tokamak system.

"All projects of the university are strategic," he said during a visit to an exhibition on achievements of the university's Faculty of Physics and Energy.

"Iranian researchers must spare no efforts to achieve nuclear fusion. If this is gained, many problems of the world will be solved and a new world will be created," he said.

Referring to successful activities of the Islamic Azad University in the field of nuclear fusion, Rafsanjani called for academic exchange among Iranian universities in the fields of research and development, which will make its mark in the world.

Alireza Rahai, chancellor of the university, and Reza Amrollahi, dean of the faculty, briefed Rafsanjani on their latest achievements.

"In the next 30 years, Tokamaks will produce electricity," Amrollahi said.

The Plasma Physics Research Center of Islamic Azad University operates a Tokamak fusion reactor designated "Iran Tokamak 1".
