MUSCAT: Khalil bin Abdullah Al Khonji, Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) chairman held a meeting with the Australian businesswomen delegation headed by Dr Fiona Hill, at the headquarters of the chamber, on Sunday.

Also present at the meeting were OCCI board members and Head of Businesswomen Forum, and Omani businesswomen.

The OCCI chairman in his welcome address to the visiting delegation, introduced the services rendered by the chamber and its branches. He also spoke about the active role of the chamber in organising various business delegations and meetings. Al Khonji explained the role of specialised committees and councils in general and the businesswomen forum in particular.

Al Khonji emphasised the importance of regular cooperation and coordination among businesswomen of both the countries in creating more investment and economic opportunities in various fields to boost the trade relations between various sectors. The importance of exchanging trade delegations between the representatives of various sectors also underlined in order to provide more opportunities to hold bilateral meetings between the businesswomen and to exchange expertise.

The head of Australian business delegation expressed her satisfaction of the visit and commended about the hospitality.

Women's initiatives
She also reiterated the importance of trade cooperation between the two countries and the significance of supporting the women initiatives in various trade fields through the forums and women associations. She expressed her hope of increasing the cooperation with the chamber in holding similar meetings in future.

The meeting included introduction of Australian businesswomen in various fields such as handicrafts, English schools, hotels, tourism offices and graphic designing.

A number of bilateral meetings were also held between the businesswomen of Australia and Oman to discuss the opportunities of cooperation in various fields.
