CAIRO, March 10 (KUNA) -- The Council of Arab Economic Unity (CAEU) Monday called on importance of tabling the Arab transporation issue on the agenda of the Economic and Social Summit, due in Kuwait next January.
A CAEU study said Monday the Arab sector of transportation was in dire need of investments and modernization to improve and facilitate transportation and transit.
It said the trade generated by transportation was very low compared to the huge capabilities of the Arab countries.
The weak infrastructure in the Arab countries has been negatively affecting transportation between Arab and Western countries, said the report.
The lack of modern fleets and organized navigation routes are the key obstacles facing the transportation sector in the Arab countries, said the report.
