TEHRAN: The managing director of Iran's Petroleum Engineering and Development Co. (PEDCO) said the collection of associated gas through Amak project would rise to 160 million cubic meters per day within a couple of weeks from current some 153 million cubic feet.
Mehdi Bazargan talking to PIN added when the project was fully implemented, it would prevent the burning of 180 million cubic feet of gas daily.
He said the figure would soar to 180 million cubic feet per day when Ab-Teimur station came on stream. The PEDCO chief said, "Excluding banking interests, 500 million dollars has been invested in the Amak project to collect associated gas."
Some 50 million dollars had been spent to run Marun 3 gas pressure station and 53 million dollars for Kupal gas pressure station, said the official.
Marun 3 gas pressure station is located 50km off Ahvaz-Ramhormoz Road.
Iran collected $150 million worth of associated gases in its Amak plan by April 20, said the executive official.
Accounting for 60 thousand barrels of crude oil extraction daily, totally 50 billion cubic feet of associated gases was collected, Mohammad Bijanfar added.
Of the figure, 3.1 million barrels were natural gas liquids (NGL) and 40 billion cubic feet were light gas, he said.
The PEDCO head said the Amak project firstly aimed at collecting 241 million cubic feet of gas daily, but the figure, due to studies, was reduced to 190 million cubic feet.
The project aims to collect the associated gases of the Ahvaz oilfields, Marun 1-3, Kupal, Mansuri, and Ab-Teimur oilfields, added the official.
