Iran produced 180,000 tons of aluminum ingots in the first half of the current Iranian year (started March 21). According to Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization, the figure shows a 6.6-percent growth compared with the corresponding figure of last year, which was 167,290 tons.

The report said Iranian Aluminum Company, Al-Mahdi Aluminum Complex and Almahdi Hormuzal Aluminum Corporation accounted for 50 percent, 30 percent and 20 percent of the figure, respectively.

The three major aluminum production companies produced 337,600 tons of aluminum ingots last year.

During March 21-September 22, aluminum powder production also reached 125,547 tons, up by 15 percent year-on-year.

Last year's figure was about 109,171 tons.

Alumina powder production reached 228,000 tons in the previous year and it is expected to hit 1.5 million tons by 2025.

During August 23-September 22, aluminum ingot output reached 29,632 tons, the reports said.

Per capita aluminum production in Iran is 4.5 kilograms, which is 6.5 kilograms in the world.

Aluminum production capacity is expected to reach 1.5 million tons by 2025.

Iran's global ranking in aluminum production is projected to improve from the current 22nd to 14th by the end of the Fifth Five-Year Economic Development Plan (2015).
